Dylan Stagner's Sportif Cross Cup Winning Giant TCX

Giant TCX Advanced Pro 2

This CX season, Dylan rode his Giant TCX Advanced Pro 2 while putting on a masterclass in power and line choice on his way to running away with the Sportif Coaching Group’s Sportif Cross Cup champion’s jersey in the Masters 35+ category. This was Dylan’s first season combining the grip of tubular tires with the stopping power of hydro disc brakes on this very stiff, very lightweight machine. Dylan picked up the bike at last year’s team night at Conte’s Bike Shop and added the glue on tires and Zipp carbon wheels with the help of the Conte’s mechanics this year. For the next part of our gear check series here on Greateskape.com we are taking a closer look at our title sponsored team rider Dylan’s cup winning thoroughbred racing bike.

Dylan thinks the striking orange design of the bike complements Great Eskape’s dark blue, black, and purple colorway well. What do you think?

Propulsion:

This TCX is powered by a Sram Rival 1x11 groupset with hydro disc brakes. Note how Giant runs the rear mech cable through the frame. Nifty!

Rubber Side Down:

Dylan has made a common choice here in running Shimano XT pedals for sure, but with good sense - they offer reliable operations and a stiff pedaling platform - especially when combined with a carbon Sram Force crankset. Contact with the ground is maintained with the use of challenge grifos glued to Zipp 303 carbon rims.

Gadgets

Dylan loves data. Just ask him about it, but bring lights - he will keep you there a while. Dylan doesnt just crush cross courses on this thing, he is crunching data too with the use of a Stages power meter mounted to the arm of his crankset and and relies on a tried and true Garmin sourced unit on the bars.

This bike will end up spending the winter and spring months staying mostly nice and clean, as Dylan tends to prefer a rigid 29’’ mountain bike for gravel events. Cheers to your big Cup win, and thanks for letting us take a closer look at the bike!
