Party-Pace the GAP-C&O

In May and June 2017, 9 members of our crew biked and camped our way across Pennsylvania and Maryland on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) and Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal Trails. Obviously we brought the ruckus the whole way.

Rides and Riders

We started out a crew of 7 (but we made a friend along the way) on a pretty strange variety of bikes. On a trail like the GAP or C&O most bikes will do. The surface varied from tarmac to mud puddles, roots, and rocks, but was totally flat and devoid of anything truly 'technical.'

Andy and Alex both rode rigid mountain bikes, the Kevins, Devin, Jess, and new friend Jordan rode touring bikes, and Cassidy rode a single speed cross bike.

Trip Diary and Gallery

We did the GAPCO in 5 days. You could do more, you could do less. 5 was right for us. The right amount of challenge with the right amount of time left over for beer runs, turtle selfies, bird encounters, random trailside porch beers with locals, flat fixing, more beer runs, honkey tonk bar patronage, sandwich eating, camp fire sitting, mexican food eating, and general bullshitting. This is our trip photodump. Photos taken by Cassidy, Andy, Alex, Jess, and Kevin.
