There are surely people out there in bike-land interested in knowing what our gear choices were. We probably all packed too much, but otherwise I think we were all happy with our set ups. they were similar in some ways - biggish tires and steel frames, no suspension, and flat pedals. We each took a different route with packing our stuff. Andy's bike was the most aerodynamic, with all the luggage being in-line with bike and rider, but also had the highest load which made off-camber sections harder. Tony and Kevin went with low riders, which made for more wind resistance but a lower load. We all carried a lot of water. Tony the most, Andy the least - but still with 168oz of water. Anyway, our bikes as follows:

Kevin: Surly Wednesday, 650b x 2.8'' tires

Tony: Surly Karate Monkey, 650b x 2.8'' tires

Andy: Velo-Orange Piolet, 700c x 2.35'' tires
